When I began this book I noticed some inconsistancy in the writing between one section to another; once I glanced back at the front cover and noticed there were two authors, it made sense. I noticed huge chunks of unusual vocabulary by the narrator (not the speaking characters), which was actually pleasant. Overall, an easy read, but some people might want a dictionary nearby.
The storyline moves slowly at first, but quickly picks up pace. I enjoyed all of the characters; although, I do wish we had a little more insight into the mind of the enemy in this novel. I'm looking forward to reading the next in this series.
In this book, we are presented with Red Sonja's past: how she became a warrior maiden. We are also allowed insight as to the conflict within herself about the vow she has taken. And, of course, we learn about the Ring of Ikribu, which is the main point of this adventure.
