I enjoyed this book immensely. Set in Bath, Laura Matthews gives us a new and refreshing plot line, with characters who stay true to the Regency period and to themselves. I truly cared about her characters and how their lives turned out. And this book has a bit of a mystery in it--not a who-done-it type murder mystery, but that the main character Nell knows her cantankerous aunt is up to something and Nell can't figure out what her aunt is going to do. The whole story line is very well done.
I especially like her heroine, Nell Armstrong: She is a very strong character, but not with the obnoxiously modern "I can do anything and you can't stop me" attitude that far too many Historical authors give their women characters. Laura Matthews shows us through Nell's actions and dialogue that she has strength of character, humor, and a big heart.
Bravo! Excellent book!

I found the story engaging and funny, it's a good read
Light, funny and sunny despite some serious themes. Likeable characters and some unusual plot twists. I liked it.
