gorgeous gorgeous book. it took my breath away. as a mother. as a mother who is estranged from her daughter for many many years. the book puts you squarely in the woods and farmlands of colorado in the middle of the 20th century when women had no rights to speak of. when bigotry was normal. this novel highlights the pain and suffering of humankind juxtaposed with an old peach farm and the river that would become a lake and the town that would disappear beneath it. this book will take you into the woods in ways that will move you forever. read this book. and go as a river.
