I do enjoy Thomas Keneally's work, and this story. The characters are brilliant, the setting in New South Wales, Australia at the turn of the last century is vivid. I liked this book very much!

An epic novel of Irish settlers in Australia at the turn of the century, rich in characters and plot

Very well written, engrossing, funny, poignant. Some of the language and politics and history were unfamiliar to me, so struggled a bit with that, but overall a really good read

At the turn of the century, Tim Shea has come from distant Ireland to build a new life in New South Wales. But he finds that this land of opportunity is a land of perilous choices...

A River Town is engrossing, funny, and touching.
