This novel is a part of a legacy series from the late Robert Parker. Like his other series (Spencer for Hire, Jesse Stone, Sunny Randell) this one suffers because of his absence. The author who picked up the torch for this series is Robert Knott, a screenwriter. He may be a wonderful scribe for the silver screen or TV, I did not appreciate his treatment of Parker's characters. I found the conversational language used by the characters to be more modern and coarse than in previous novels. If Knott writes anymore Cole and Hitch novels, I'll avoid them.
