Riker takes a vacation to visit some friends on a terraforming colony and ends up caught up in a mystery. We get to see some backstory on Riker, but overall the book is pretty forgettable.

The best star trek next generation novel and the one with the most writing about the relationship between Riker and Deanna Troi.

This story introduces a character named "Stone," who has questionable judgement, appears brutally ruthless, and extremely capable -- and still a Starfleet officer. While Riker gets sent to an ice ball of a planet where he fights for his life.

Another interesting TNG book, although I don't feel it meets some of the other books. It does bring a little insight into the relationship between Riker and Troi.

Riker lunged, grabbed the ice axxe and sswung it as hard as he could. The Axe slammed into the Wild Thing's left eye and it screamed, a scream that was almost human, and fell back Riker scrambled to his feet swinging the axe back and forth, trying to keep the creature at bay.

Very good story line. Lots of Star Trek action, very interesting high ranking characters and some old feelings resurfaced. Excellent Trek Novel. I give this one a 7 out of ten for content, Star Trek authenticity, story line, and content.
