Having read many of Ford's books, including The Sportswriter & Independence Day, I was certain these short stories would be stand-outs. And indeed they are, small slices of life that are as unsettling as they are expertly written.

Richard Ford is definitely one of the top literary novelists writing today, if only for his catalog and not necessarily his most recent effort. You will be stunned, startled and satisfied with these short gems.
