OK so I am kinda - sorta - maybe starting to see this guy who is a teacher at my son's school. Nothing serious so far and maybe not ever but there is somehow something very "risque" about dating a teacher even at my age since they are so totally off-limits when we are teenagers and they are often the objects of our teenage crushes. And this guy is REALLY cute...he's got such gorgeous brown puppy dog eyes and a great smile... So I am kind of in the mood to read a few romance novels where the hero is a teacher or a professor. With or w/out sex as long as its not TOO erotic. Any suggestions? Anybody got a book of this sort on their shelf? |

I just posted Golden Girl, where the love interest is a teacher - but I have to warn you, I hated the book and didn't finish it! I know what you mean about the risque aspect though. When my sweetie started teaching, I felt like I had an entree into a secret club ~ lol! |

Oh, I do have one on my shelf! Mackenzie's Mountain. The heroine is a schoolteacher. She gets involved with the father of one of her students. I read a Loveswept some years back about a heroine that returned home and got involved with one of her high school teachers several years after she graduated. I can't remember the title right now though. I'll have to think some more, I'm sure I've read some books where the hero is a teacher. |

There's not much sex - it's part of a group of novels called "The It Girls," who are super wealthy heiresses recruited to help solve crimes. I just didn't like the whole rich girl attitude. If you want it, I'll throw in Eleanora's Ghost by Suzanne Carey free. It's about a female college professor who looks just like her ancestor-ghost who haunts the college. The love interest is the descendent of the ghosts lover/husband. No stains - just a beat up book published in 1993. I don't think there's any sex in that one. ETA - The Golden Girl is by Erica Orloff, and I also have one of the others in the set, Ms. Longshot by Sylvie Kurtz. Last Edited on: 11/21/07 7:42 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

must Love Dogs is sorta romance/chick lit type(movie was based on it) she's a kindergarten teacher seems lie kathyrn shay's 'promises to keep'..very good book, some sex but dont' recall it being too descriptive/frequent and there are 2 romances in this one and conflict..2 secret service guys are undercover as uncle-nephew (counselor-student) and the student and his teacher are attraced (big time conflict) and counselor/principal are the 'main' romance. they're undercover to prevent school violence like columbine so if that topic bothers you stay away 'cause it deals with trust/deceit/teen suicide-problems...I enjoyed this book a lot but it was more 'serious' to me than anything else. mackenzie's mountain that was mentioned - she's a teacher and it's pretty hot in the sex dept esp for one of these type books!

Well, okay, that didn't take long! Just had to dig out the box o' Loveswepts and there it was! Since it's a Loveswept, it's not overly steamy.
Private Lessons by Barbara Boswell GRAY--nobody wore jeans better or looked hotter than he did... Gray McCall remembered the pretty high school student who'd had such a crush on him, she'd nearly flunked his biology class--but now Elissa Emory was a knockout, all delectable curves and irresistibly tempting! He hadn't felt like teasing or flirting with a woman in ages, but she was bewitching, a sizzling challenge whose lips made him hunger to kiss her until she melted in his arms. He dared to stake a claim.. Elissa adored the intimate, sexy promises Gray made with his body, responded to his seductinve embraces with all her heart; but he fought against sharing the sorrow that haunted him, and insisted he couldn't give her what she needed...what she deserved. Could she teach a man who refused to believe in forever that the healing power of her love could make him happy? |

Sarah thanks I just ordered that book! Sharon I'm going to skip on Golden Girl but thanks anyway. I read some reviews of it on Amazon and they weren't overly good and since you didn't like it either I'm not going to bother with it. |

For a different take on it, I loved one where the teacher is the h and the student is the H. She was a young teacher and it was high school so the age difference isn't that great. Now he's come home after ten years in prison. He is HOT. He was able to get parole because she provided him with a job at the family hardware store. One Summer by Karen Robards.
Edited to say I missed the part about not too erotic. Should maybe skip this one. Last Edited on: 11/22/07 6:57 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Oh, and two books where the h is undercover as a high school girl and the poor teacher is clueless about this at first, are Outside In by Beverly Sommers (very funny) and Wallflower by Jan Freed. Both very good books though the Sommers can be hard to find. |

It's been a while since I read it so I don't remember how steamy it is, but I remember really enjoying High Energy by Dara Joy. The hero is a genius physics professor, and the heroine is a reporter who ends up taking one of his classes by accident -- I think she was looking for a class on psychics to help her with a story. I thought it was a fun one! Hmmm...OK, I just looked into it, and several people at amazon are mentioning steam and sizzle.... |

Oh yes, Outside In is pretty good too! It is a Harlequin American Romance so not very steamy at all. I fogot about that one until Bronwyn mentioned it. Heroine goes undercover in her sister's high school (her sister had died due to drugs, I think it was) and falls for one of the teachers. |

Hi Bren, I couldn't think of any titles off hand but I posted at a romance book site (AAR) and asked for suggestions. Here's the link http://aarboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=2053 Last Edited on: 11/23/07 6:19 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Shannon that 1st line sounds good! I put it on my reminder list! I can't vouch for it since I've never read it....but I would think it would definitely qualify for what she's looking for! =) The picture looks really steamy too. Let us know if it's good after you read it. |
