Rosie's Bakery is an iconic Boston institution. They're widely loved particularly for their cakes, which are roughly the density of lead and best served in thin but tasty slivers, and their brownies, appropriately called "Chocolate Orgasms". They're decadent, over the top, and absolutely wonderful. Rosie's cookies are also superb, flaky and buttery and delightful, while not insipid or childish.

I give copies of this cookbook to family members who don't have the good fortune to be able to go to Rosie's any time they like, or who aren't here to discover on their own these delightful baked goods. My aunt now swears by the cheesecake recipe, and I'm in love with the chocolate cake with mocha buttercream frosting. The cookbook recipes are not some odd but not quite right approximation of what you can get in the bakery, as is true of so many restaurant cookbooks: if you use the right ingredients and follow the recipe, you will get something that is every bit as good as you would get from walking into Rosie's and ordering at the counter.

I hope you will enjoy the Rosie's Bakery cookbooks as much as I do.
