A thoughly enjoyable view of the frontier west, and introduction to an emerging genius of American writing. Twain is well informed, honest, and surprisingly prudish is his role as storyteller, but always intent on keeping his reader interested. Good Read!

A little to autobiographical for my taste, but still a classic
I like it, very funny sometimes, but also some difficult reading. Sometimes he just gets a little bit to wordy.
This is a chronicle of Twain's journey through the then wild western part of the US and on to Hawaii. The domestic complement to Innocents Abroad
Mark Twain at his satiric and hilarious best - taking on America's west of the 1860s and the colorful characters he met, and the off-beat adventures he had.
