Thoughts:
Ruby is a fifteen year old girl who is moving away from her small town home. That means away from her friends and everything she knows. But it may not be so bad considering how everyone in Marin County, California is artsy just like her. Then again things seem to be getting more and more difficult in her life. This not only causes her to be stressed out but it makes her a bit doubtful about God.
I liked this book, it was pretty good but I didn't love it. I liked how the story was very realistic. There are issues addressed that teenagers go through often. If you're Christian just like Ruby then you will especially relate.
I didn't love it because it just wasn't that great of a story for me. That might just be me though. If you find this to be your kind of story then go for it.
The writing was pretty good and I liked the plot but..like I said, it just didn't do it for me. I found myself having to take a break now and then.
I loved how Ruby actually sounds like a teenager. There are even parts in the book written in texts. That's definitely keeping up with the times now-a-days.
Another thing I didn't like was that Ruby was able to forgive London so easily. That girl was just not nice in having basically abandoned Ruby. I just thought it was pretty lame of Ruby to easily forgive London. Tsk tsk
The characters were not really well developed. Some of the characters where just kind of there. It seemed like maybe the reader would find out more about them but ..not much happened in that department. There's also the fact that not much in the book was in great detail. Certain things could have been explained more. That would have definitely made the book better in my opinion.
