Has there been a change I dont know about? I have now received another book with no enclosed paperwork to show who it came from, etc. That is the 6th book in just a few months I have gotten without any paperwork. This package had my name and address handwritten on a reused bubble wrapper so it didnt have a single sheet folded in half with only the address part showing which might have led me to believe the paperwotk wasnt enclosed. |

Nothing has changed, putting the address slip inside was never mandatory, just prudent and a courtesy to the recipient. But a handwritten address leads me to believe it's a member without a printer so they couldn't do the inside sheet. When accepting the book you can politely mention that it's always nice to put the sender's name & the mailing address (even handwritten) inside in case of PO mishaps with the wrapper. |

I've never put the address thing inside any of the books I've sent out and there's never been a problem. I know that I should be putting an address inside the envelope, but I never do. If I want to know who a book came from I look at the return address on the package. Usually I just look at the book, look at my books en route to me and check the book off. |

I sometimes get books where the sender has used the PBS address as the return address so I dont really know who it came from if they dont include the printed sheet. Why print that out if you arent going to include it in the book? |

If you check your main accounts page (before marking a book received) you should be able to see the book on the page with the 'en route' tab which should show who sent the book to you. I don't print the label to save on ink and don't include any paperwork inside the package. Obviously I don't use prepaid PBS postage but take my packages to the local post office thereby saving $60 or more per year. I do PM the receiving member with tracking info when I've mailed the book. Apart from occasionally needing to remind members to mark a book received, I haven't had any problems or complaints. |

Those that use printable postage, need the book wrapped and weighed before they can print out the mailing sheet. So my sheet gets folded on the wrapper I print out. It never goes inside. Those that hand write the address wouldn't have the sheet to enclose either. Everyone uses PBS differently and it has always been that way. The PBS address hasn't been allowed to use in years though for printable postage although someone who handwrites could still use it. I never look at the sheet from those who enclose it, just mark the book received. |

I always include the part that states the address it was sent to and the book or list of books, and the statement it was "...sent to you by... I cut this part out, bend it and fit it over the front cover of the book---address outside, "sent to you by..." inside. This way if the book ever separates from the wrapper, it still has the address with it, as I also include some type of waterproof wrapping on the book inside the shipping envelope. Unless your book(s) is/are fairly close to the 1 (2, 3, etc) pound(s) in weight, you don't have to wrap the book(s) before weighing them. In fact, I've become pretty good at wraping a book weighing between15 and 16 ozs, then weighing it and it is still under one pound. Depends on how you wrap it. I use a manila envelope when it is over 15 ozs. The address sheet and tape hardly ever kick it over 16 ozs. Hey, I'm cheap! Still, if it is a real close call I'll print the 2 lb postage. |

I've always handwritten my addresses and mailed them from the Post Office, so I've never printed and included the sheet with the address in all the years I've mailed. I simply look at the return address on the package or look in my transaction archive because I know the book is only coming from one person. |

I've never put the address thing inside any of the books I've sent out and there's never been a problem. I do the same as Pat. |

I never put it in my books, either. I bought a book at a thrift store once and the PBS paperwork was still in it. Kind of weirded me out. |

Those that use printable postage, need the book wrapped and weighed before they can print out the mailing sheet. I never wrap my books before printing the labels. Two of the three label versions are meant to be the wrapper, in fact. If it is within half an ounce of the next pound, then I will put the higher weight on the label. |

I always include the inside sheet in the books that I mail so you know where the book comes from. Also like Marya, I PM the member with tracking info when I've mailed the book. |

I don't include the second half sheet because I get my postage from Paypal, and they don't have the second half sheet! I've sent out over 800 books, and no one has ever complained. I've also started sending tracking numbers. |
