Rumpole, a self-described hack lawyer at Old Bailey, defends offenders who break traffic laws, commit petit larceny, and pick pockets. He also defends those accused of murder, but only when no other lawyer thinks it's a winnable case.

Can you think of a better person to defend you if you were accused of a crime in London than Rumpole? Thankfully, Rumpole did not succumb to the heart attack that so abruptly ended the previous book. He is back at it with his usual "charm" and shrewdness. Although his first problem is trying to convince the hospital staff that he is well enough to leave their ministrations. Another great novel in the Rumpole series includes all the favorite characters as well as numerous comments by Rumpole reminding everyone how he solved The Penge Bungalow Murders "alone & without a leader" A great read!

My Rumpole reviews are all the same, I love these books but I've read them so many times and it just time to let them go and bring in some new stuff. I only have so much room for books. If you liked one Rumpole you'll like them all.

Excellent. Really enjoyed it and now my wife has also read it. Maybe another Rumpole fan.
