Interesting being when Miki saves a little girl from being run over by a truck close to her school. She was severely injured only to wake up in a alternate reality. In this alternative reality, the teens (and it's always teenagers) have to save the world from aliens. However, they can die in this reality, so they need to be careful. When mission in complete they "jump" back into their current lives. (with no one the wiser they were gone for an unknown amount of time).
Overall, I was confused. The explanation came too little too late for me. I didn't care anymore. This is a typical YA book with the angst, love triangle. And one of the boys in the love triangle (Jackson) is an asshole (IMO).
In short, this is a bunch of teens who aren't voting age that have to save the world; video game style. This author's Otherkin and Gothis series are good. Giving her YA stuff a hard pass.
