This is about a dysfunctional Pakistani family with pretensions of being royal. I'll be completely honest. I couldn't finish this book. I found I could only make it part way through the book before I lost interest. The author weaves old family stories into the narrative which I found confusing at times, but her description of food is incredible.

Wonderful stories woven into a well-crafted plot that uplifts and frees the ideals we think we have.

The sections of this book which dealt with the narrator's family history were a bit tedious and I was tempted to gloss over them. But when she gets to the heart of the story it's wonderful. She is quite a wordsmith!
