The premise was good and thought-provoking, but then Rose, the main character, got really stupid....has she never seen a legal court room drama on TV?? She seemed to have no clue. I felt like smacking her. A lot.
The story then turned into a ridiculous Nancy Drew mystery solver, except that it was extremely dangerous---and asinine. Really. Moronic. I can't believe Lisa Scottoline wrote this with a straight face. Everything wrapped up too neatly, all the bad guys got what was coming to them (this doesn't happen in real life).
BUT, I will give her big points for wrapping up the Rose/Eileen/Amanda/Melly/Leo/Thomas Pallau story at the end. There was more. And, more. And, more! I LOVE it when authors tell us everything that happened afterward, none of this "happily ever after" stuff that's supposed to leave it to our imagination. I want concrete facts! And, she gave them to us! Bravo!
