Oooh, this was a gooood one! After reading several insipid Regency romances, I was in danger of becoming bored with the genre. But this one? - good romance, interesting interplay amongst many varied & interesting characters, a touch of paranormal, and a touch of Gothic horror/murder mystery - all make for a very good story. This is not your average romance, but one of the better ones I've read in several years.

Good Read. Loved the characters and their development through the book. The writer does a great job with the development of the story. My first from this author, but it won't be the last.

From the back cover...
Love is sweetest when it is unexpected...
Nell Anslowe and Julian, Earl of Wyndham, are an unlikely couple in every aspect. Injured in a riding accident ten years ago, Nell was left with a fiance' who abandoned their engagement and the firm belief that she will never marry. The abrupt end of Julian's unhappy marriage formed his resolve to remain a bachelor until the end of his days. But as Julian chases down his reckless stepsister, he seeks shelter from a summer storm in a cottage-and finds it occupied by Nell, who has escaped from a fortune seeking libertine bent on carrying her off to Gretna Green. Discovered together by Nell's family, the couple's hasty wedding is the only way to save Nell from scandal. But the polite union each of them expects soon ignites into something much more powerful...

I found the book moderately interesting, mostly on the plot level, and I did finish it, though I skimmed a great deal. I didn't sense much authentic regency feel to it, and I thought the author was much too fond of imcomplete sentences (and they're not in dialog or internal monologue either -- they're in the author's narrative). My main feeling was that I've read a jillion books just like it before, only better written. Lovely cover though.
