This 4th installment of the adventures of Sarah Woolson is an excellent story. A must read for anyone interested in a strong, independent woman. Sarah is an attorney in 1881 San Francisco. Although I am not a huge fan of 1st person POV, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of Shirley Tallman's books. I do recommend reading the books in order to completely understand the character development that takes place throughout the series (#1 Murder on Nob Hill, #2 Russian Hill Murders, #3 Cliff House Strangler).
There are a couple of surprises in the book. I didn't figure out who the murderer was until a page or two before the killer was discovered. While I enjoyed the story, I felt things were wrapped up too quickly at the end. I would have liked a little more detail about the killer's motivation and reasons for doing the dirty deeds. I wonder if other readers would feel the same way in that there is another back story there that could have been expounded on a bit more. Same thing with Sarah's first case that appears in this book. Wrapped up a little too quickly and too neatly. But that's just MHO!
Does Sarah finally get her man? Which one do you think it is? I'm not gonna tell. But I am hoping Ms. Tallman comes out with another book to expand a little more on Sarah's personal life and relationships. Sarah really does need to get emotionally and physically involved with her man!!!
