My Rating: 4 stars
Story: an unusual premise, interesting with various twists and turns
Romance: quite erotic from the very beginning, long before actual consummation occurs

First, let me make clear that I am a fan and have read one other of her books. It is my opinion that Ms. Schone is intent on finding a way to fold extremely graphic sexual imagery and subject matter into an interesting (however implausible in the late 19th century) storyline. Her bio provides the following clues, from inside the back of the book: "Robin Schone...is a staunch defender of human rights in general and women's sexuality worldwide."

Disappointing contribution from this author. I was hoping for something of the quality of "The Lover","Gabriel's Woman", or "The Lady's Tutor", but there wasn't enough romance, erotica or storyline in this one, which is a shame, because I really, really like this author. The above-mentioned books had a dark side to their stories; perhaps that was the draw. But the characters and the storyline in this book left me blah.

Robin Schone is a wonderful writer. She leaks the story out while creating tangible relationships among her characters. Although the consumation of the relationship was quite a bit into the book, I was rivited by the character development and their attraction to one another. Classic and delightful sex scenes. London in the 1800's.

I was smiling through much of the book because of the tender sweetness with which the main characters treated each other. As always, she has a truly dark and disturbing undercurrent of danger. Highly recommended!

Another Robin Schone that does not let you down. I think it's almost as the same premise as the Lover.

This book was very erotic and also contained some great historical information. It was a good mix in the storyline.
