Witty, irreverent, and surprisingly insightful study of gossip, celebrity, and American politics. Collins does more than reprise some of the more infamous gossip of the last 200+ years of American history. She confirms some, debunks others, and cogently theorizes why we are so endlessly fascinated by the foibles of prominent personalities, and how that fascination has changed as our culture has evolved.
