An American television journalist's trip to Scotland to debunk regional myths takes an unexpected turn when she is sucked through a time portal to the days of Cromwell's assault on Scotland and entangles her in a dangerous attempt to keep the royal crown, scepter, and orb out of the invader's hands.

Scottish historical time-travel romance from 1996 to 1650 with an American career girl forced to rely on a Highlander to keep her alive. I knew little about Mary, Queen of Scots before but now want to delve deep to see if the scholarship behind this book's premise is real. Great read for lovers of history.
