Really, the Kite Runner is very readable and other than the scruff, has a good life left in it.  Also have a scruffy trade paperback of Year of Wonders (I lOVED this book enough to order another copy in hardcover for my keeper shelf), and a very nicely repaired hardcover of King's Cell.  The spine had cracked right at the very beginning and I poured in a ton of Elmers.  It should hold up nicely through another couple of reads.
