Everyone has secrets. In Jayne Ann Krentz's latest release Secret Sisters we learn that everyone always has secrets. It all starts on a night 18 years ago on a small Northwest Island. A psychopath is hunting his prey. The result of his actions that night sends ripples through many years and many lives. The secret they keep changes the lives of the Madeline Chase, and her secret sister Daphne Knight. Someone wants keep the secret of what happened that night buried and they are willing to kill to do it.

This book is a departure from Krentz's usual romance formula. It's more along the lines of a murder mystery with personal stories to tell about several main characters than the main two characters figuring out where the relationship is going with some plot excitement thrown in on the side for spice. Good news is that it tells their stories well. The story is that much richer, because seeing many different perspectives helps you understand why some of the characters did things that didn't seem to make sense from another character's point of view. In the end you come to care about Madeline and Jack; and Daphne and Ace and the small town of Cooper Beach.

I was intrigued from page 1. I haven't read Jayne Ann Krentz books in years since I am not into romance novels. However, this was a murder mystery that had many twists and turns and kept me reading throughout the evening.

Madeline and Jack, the main characters were likeable and I cared what happened to them. Yes, there was romance but I was pulling for them to overcome their demons and get together.

It was a great change of venue for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
