First time read for this author. Enjoyed it very much. Alex Knight returns from a business trip to Brazil, where he was forced to fight for his life and escaped through the jungle, to discover that his family has been told he was killed. He tries to call them to let them know he is alright, but can't reach anyone. When he arrives home, a strange woman answers the door, and doesn't believe he is Alex Knight. He is shocked to find out that she is supposedly his wife.

Enjoyable romance! 1st of 2 books(so far).A bit of silliness and a touch of suspense that doesn't take away from the main couple's romance end with a HEA. The heroine escapes from the real world by reading romance novels and dreaming she'd be as strong as the women she reads about. The man has suffered a bad marriage. She marries him by proxy before his death was 'publicized' because she wants a family(children) then he shows up alive! He makes a bad move the first night back then spends the remainder of the book winning over his wife which is tough since he doesn't think he wants love and she's also wary of all men. Nice, easy read. Oh, and it may bug some, but characters and scenes from romance novels are mentioned and they just happen to come for 2 other books by this author.Didn't bother me but it may some.I'm giving it a 5 for my 'category' of nice, easy non-dramatic reads I can just pick up and enjoy for the sake of reading!

Really, really didn't like this one. Disappointed by her. Goofy, naieve heroine and uninteresting hero. Worst part ran throughout the book - the author's shameless self-promotion by mentioning her other books as being read by the characters in this one. Really dumb. Pass.

I loved the setting but I like heroines with a little less wide-eyed, gosh willikers, naivete.

Alex Knight is dead--or so everyone thinks. A widowed logger baron w/ a risk-taking streak, he took on a South American engineering project and was reported dead after a rebel attack. So when he turns up back in Maine very much alive, his grieving family is shocked. But the biggest shock is Alex's, when he discovers he's now married--to a woman he never met.

Sarah Banks is ready for a change from running a quiet bed & breakfast, and working for the Knight family offers not only a bigger opportunity, but also the family life she yearns for. So she's glad to help secure custody of Alex's orphaned children, whom she's come to love, by marrying their father by proxy before he's legally declared dead. But when Alex returns, the sexy, determined woodsman upends all of Sarah's plans. Because suddenly she's married to a passionate stranger with an easy smile...and tumbling headlong into a fiery dance of seduction.

meh. would have been a lot better if Mrs. Chapman hadn't used it as a venue to pimp her other books. She even quoted two pages worth of one of her books.
