If You Could See Me Now (aka A Silver Lining)
If You Could See Me Now - aka A Silver Lining Author:Cecelia Ahern In this charming novel, internationally bestselling author Cecelia Ahern shows that sometimes not seeing is believing! — Elizabeth Egan's life runs on order: Both her home and her emotions are arranged just so, with little room for spontaneity. It's how she counteracts the chaos of her family -- an alcoholic mother who left when she was y... more »oung, an emotionally distant father, and a free-spirited sister, who seems to be following in their mother's footsteps, leaving her own six-year-old son, Luke, in Elizabeth's care. When Ivan, Luke's mysterious new grown-up friend, enters the picture, Elizabeth doesn't know quite what to make of him. With his penchant for adventure and colorful take on things large and small, Ivan opens Elizabeth's eyes to a whole new way of living. But is it for real? Is Ivan for real?
If You Could See Me Now is a love story with heart -- and just a touch of magic.
Another interesting book from Ahern. Elizabeth is a woman whose mother abandoned her in childhood; and Elizabeth followed suit, by growing up and locking away her 'childish' feelings. Now she is caring for her sister's son (as her sister never quite grew up).
Enter Ivan, the imaginary friend. He is there to help the children who need him most. The surprising thing is, it's Elizabeth's inner child who needs him most. In befriending Ivan, Elizabeth can allow herself to feel like a child again -- and she can feel happy. Sometimes growing up means going back.
This was great, so different. There's movie talk on this one, with Hugh Jackman in the main role!! Can't wait for that! This book is very different from you're typical romance novel, so be ready for that. And it's set in Ireland, which is one of my favorite places in the world (that I haven't been to yet!)
