I like Marillier, and did eventually like this book, but thought it was a slow read. I was bored for the first HALF, which is unusual for me with this author. It picked up at about page 173 for me. Druid, man with no memory, lots of nursing scenes...boring. If this had been my first read by this author, I would not have sought out any other books. I was disappointed.
My wife has read the whole series and found them all very absorbing - no slowdowns or dull sections - great stories and characters. Highly recommended!
