This book will not disappoint you. The Author waited 25 years to tell the stories of the people he encountered during his imprisonment of 6years in 20 different concentration camps. This was his way of keeping their memories alive.

Stories about the Holocaust are so hard to read and this book in particular was a series of accounts of the people the author encountered while he himself was an inmate in 20 different concentration camps.

I am kind of grateful that he didn't go into gruesome stories of the children's barracks at Buchenwald but still, whenever he wrote about the young men of 12 to 16 years of age, my heart sank deeper.

I liked the last story, I think he did that on purpose because it was the one that described the children in the camps; children without parents, and 9 to 10 year olds caring for the young ones. I had taken as much as I could and then the American troops and the Allies liberated them.

The whole thing was very sad although the author wrote the final story about the children in a positive light from the point of view of the few adults hiding inside the children's barracks, it was hard to visualize.

Don't pass this book up, read carefully, it is worth it.
