As I read the excerpts from Jim Elliot's journals and letters, I am amazed at the spiritual maturity and dedication this man had from as young as 18-20 years old. His life was completely focused on serving God and doing His Will in every aspect of his life, even if it meant sacrificing his own natural desires (including marrying) or dying at a young age. God did eventually give him peace about marrying Elisabeth, but also had it in His plan for them to only share a few short years together before Jim would give his life (at age 29) for the cause of the gospel, as a missionary in Ecuador. Jim Elliot's life, as well as his widow's, is inspirational, to say the least.
