By giving us the tale of a young man growing into manhood, from a novice deputy sheriff to a confident one, Elmer Kelton gives us another great story. Great characters and fun entertainment.
I'm a huge western fan and Kelton ranks up there with Louis L'Amour which in my book is high praise !

The problems of a new deputy sheriff are exciting, and he must prove himself worthy. The book gets you so you just can't put it down. I sat up late last night to finish it because I knew I couldn't sleep until I knew the outcome. You won't be sorry, honestly. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.
