Directed at Sherlock Holmes fans, The Sherlockian features two mysteries. Alex Cale is about to give a lecture on his discovery of the Sherlockian Holy Grail at the annual Baker Street Irregulars convention—the missing volume of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's diary covering the period before he revives Sherlock from death—only to be found murdered in his hotel room with the diary missing. Fellow Irregular Harold feels the need to investigate as his hero would. In alternating chapters, Arthur's own sleuthing during the time covered by the missing diary unfolds. The fact that The Sherlockian is Graham Moore's debut effort shows in the writing style. The characters are somewhat one-dimensional and become ever more obsessively drawn into their respective mysteries. However, I think this book can be turned into a good movie.
