In this fifth installment, the pack, still grieving from the loss of one of their own in book four, is ready to go to war. Faythe's father, the Alpha, is still looking for backing to tie up the council vote for the Alpha to lead the territory. Right now, most are siding with Calvin Malone, the reason Faythe's brother is dead.
Calvin wants the tabbies, Faythe and young Kaci, badly, as anyone in possession of the tabbies has the most power. He'll stop at nothing to achieve his goal, even conniving with Thunderbirds to achieve it.
The Thunderbirds believe that the Pack is the reason one of their own is dead and want revenge. They'll kill anything in their way. When the Thunderbirds surround the Sanders homestead, they aren't sure how to act; they aren't used to being powerless. They come up with a plan that allows the women to leave, but it falls through. Faythe and Kaci are caught and taken back to the Flight, the Thundercat home.
Faythe has to do some fast talking to convince them to give her two days to prove that Calvin Malone is behind the murder and not her Pride. But for insurance, the Thunderbirds keep Kaci. If Faythe doesn't return with proof or she's lying, they will kill her.
The Thunderbirds are a great addition to the series. Lots of action and politics, but Faythe is right at the forefront. While I enjoyed Faythe's growth over the past few books, Faythe left me annoyed in this one. The romantic triangle between her, Jace, and Marc is getting old. It's always all about Faythe and that wouldn't annoy me so much if she would just learn from her mistakes. She goes on and on about how she isn't good enough for Marc, and the real story is, she's right. She isn't. She shouldn't have either guy but we'll see how that plays out in book 6, Alpha. Although I am disillusioned with the series with this particular installment, I am curious to see how it all ends up.

What an amazing book! The Thunderbirds turned out to be a great addition to the Shifters' world, and I have a strong feeling we haven't seen the last of them.
Faythe is one hell of a heroine, and I think she is going to make one hell of an Alpha. She is honorable, loyal, fair, strong, courageous and compassionate. She has matured so much over the course of the series, and continues to prove herself. She really shined in this book, and some of her decisions prove that she is going to be a great leader.
I don't know how I will wait until October to find out the fate of Faythe's relationships and Pride!

Amazing! Had me on the edge of my seat! I know I cursed out loud so many times shaking my head glad no one was around to see (or hear) me. I'm not sure I have ever read a series I have been so emotionally involved in. Rachel Vincent is a talent not to be missed...I will be keeping up with everything she writes!
In this lead up to the finale everything is changing for Faythe in every aspect of her life and she is right there changing and rolling with the punches (literally!).Avenging her brothers death will not be as easy as it seems and trouble follows her and her fellow Enforcers at every turn, the heartache gut renching. Wow..Thunderbirds who knew? This series is a MUST read!!

I had some trouble with this book, personally, even though it's an amazing book.
In this book, Faythe and the Pride are forced to face off against an ancient enemy race, the Thunderbirds. They are put in a position where they face life and death, and the heart wrenching grief of their losses hits you right in the chest.

The problem I had with this book actually started with something that happened in the last book, and that's where Faythe ends up sleeping with Jace right after her brother's death. Marc is missing, her brother just died, and she and Jace both get a little drunk, and fall into a passion that neither knew was there.
The problem I have with this is that I'm not a fan of cheating in books or movies with characters that I love. I also am not a fan of poly-amorous relationships in my books or movies, and I tend to stay away from them. So when I saw that in the last book, I was a little taken aback, because I was so in love with Faythe as a character, and that kind of made me hate her a little.
But in this book, it's really hard to see her live with this choice, and the fact that she hasn't told Marc about it, because with all that's going on, and all that's happened, there hasn't been a right time. She's horribly worried about what's going to happen with Marc and Jace, and herself, and she doesn't know how she's going to pick.

This book is an emotional roller coaster, and if you have not read this series, do yourself a favor and go pick it up! This book is definitely awesome, and will not let you down.
