The story of a family in Arkansas during the depression. the characters use the southern dialect which was hard to get use to. the story was good. You felt their pain and despair with all the things they experienced. It was sad in some parts and just when you thought nothing more could go wrong it did, but the book also was an encouragement as they learned what was really important in this life and that God was always faithful to provide. The book was based on the lives of the parents of the author.

am cleaning out bookshelves; read it, but I don't recall the story.
Cover says, "Shiloh Autumn is the saga of the Tucker and Canfield families as they struggle to make it through the Great Depression. It is an inspiring story of courage, faith and the healing strength of foregiveness in the face of loss and betrayal."

At last I understand this time in history!
I love this book. I read this before I realized it was apart of a trilogy. I had gotten it on Kindle, then I had to order the hardbound. It is a keeper. I love the story, not to romancy, but tells it as it was and I felt as I was there in the midst of the happenings.
Though this book is well written, it depressed me terribly reading it. I knew some about the lives of the poor "Arkies" and "Oakies" from previous readings but had no idea how bad it was for some. Maybe I shouldn't have read this during the pandemic but I have always enjoyed reading books on survival. Maybe because it is set here in America, it upset me more than the Holocaust books and the polar expeditions survivor's books I have read over the years. I guess you'll have to judge for yourself..
The story takes place is a little town in Arkansasin 1931. The family undergoes many trials during the depression years....
This book does not have its dustjacket cover.
