I read the beginning and the end of this, although he claims the history Canada is not short, he doesn't spend a lot of time on the pre-1867 period. I've always thought of Canadian History as being as close as we can get to an Alternate US History, but there's probably so much that's different. Anyway, mostly he follows the politics since the 1867. He is quite opinionated about whether someone was competent or not in office (I don't have enough background to figure out if he had a particular pattern that shows he has an axe to grind), at times towards the later years he sounds like he just lists the major problems confronted by a politician without tying it together. That may be a problem with a "Short" history, it also may be due to this being a revised version where he just threw together some addendum material.
