Bonnie Graham can hardly wait for the school year to end. She plans to have a relaxing summer, make improvements to her apartment and hanging out with friends. She's even been asked to put together a band to perform at a friend's wedding. All that changes in an instant when when she arrives at the apartment where her âboyfriendâ is apartment-sitting. He is lying dead on the floor. Not knowing what to do, Bonnie calls a girlfriend and together they make a fateful decision that will alter their lives forever.
The Other Side of the Door by Nicci French is a uniquely written thriller that depends largely on âtime-shiftingâ to keep the plot moving. While this writing tool can be used to make a book more interesting, it can also make for tedious reading. French was partially successful, in my opinion. On the plus side, I did enjoy the apparent nod to Agatha Christie's âAnd Then There Were None plot involving a group of people. The characters were well developed and believable. That said, moving back and forth in time every chapter was a little tedious and unnecessary. I'm not really sure what doing so was supposed to add to the reader's experience. However, despite this one negative point, I would still recommend this book and give it 3/5 stars.

This is a re-release of Complicit from 2009. Who is more dangerous? An enemy? A friend? Or a lover? â Bonnie Graham
finds her boyfriend dead lying in a pool of blood. What happened? What will she do? Who killed him? Everyone tells lies to the police. Is anyone prepared to tell the truth to uncover a murderer?
I liked this book a lot and had a hard time putting it down. The story switched between The Before and The After of The Murder. The characters were believable. The ending was a surprise. I loved all the twists and turns. I would recommend this book to those who love mystery thrillers. I have read all of their Frieda Klein books but will catch up on their earlier books. I would like to thank NetGalley and William Morrow Paperbacks for a free copy for an honest review.
