The Silent Garden is the only reference for parents of deaf children that provides every option without a biased opinion.

The author, Paul (Dr. Ogden to those who don't know him,) was raised by a supportive family that had already raised his older deaf brother. He went to an oral school, and is very connected in the oral deaf community -- HOWEVER!!! -- his program at the university emphasizes sign and total communication, as well as his book. He signs all of his classes and lectures (at least that I've been in) and I've rarely had spoken conversations with him. They were usually when he would sneak up behind me and ask me how I was doing, never a full conversation.

The book explores every aspect of life for a FAMILY with a deaf child. Paul covers almost every option, and their pro's and con's. Like he always counseled me when I was in his program, you have to be open to everything, and tailor it to what works best for THE CHILD and family.
