I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, easy read. The characters were convincing and the love story was very romantic. There was enough of the supernatural to throw some unexpected twists. It wasn't at all what I was expecting. I read the book because it was recommended by Stephen King and I'm glad that I did!

I really enjoyed this quick read by Graham Joyce. While the plot is pretty easy to figure out, its the poetic way Joyce has written this novel which drew me in. I read it savoring all of his thoughts about the relationship that is central to the story. Its a book you will think about a long time after you've finished reading it! Very nice.

Excellently written! I was thoroughly engaged and the end of every chapter left me wondering what was going to happen next. The ending is a bit of a twist; you don't really know what the truth is until the very end. I highly recommend this book.

My boyfriend collects books. I had a bought with the flu while at his house last week and perused his shelves for something new. I really only picked "The Silent Land" because of the cover. I'm so very glad I did. This novel was unexpectedly good. There are really only two characters, Zoe and Jake. They get caught in an avalanche in the French Alps, and miraculously escape, only to find they are the only two people in the village they're in. Hotels, restaurants, shops... all abandoned. The book really threw me for a loop a few times. It's a very beautiful love story, but left me feeling very uneasy almost the whole way through. Quite unsettling.

I read this in about 6 hours. I just didn't want to put it down.
