I was excited to read this after having enjoyed the Red Necklace, but I just couldn't make myself like it. While RN had dark undertones, this one was just plain gruesome. A hint of dark gives flavor to a work, but this was overpowering and frankly, I didn't want to keep this book in my house. A bit too much evil for my taste buds, and not enough light to balance it.
