First off, two warnings: (1) This manga is extremely sad. Not in a soul-crushing, never-seen-the-light-again way, but in a way that will probably give you goosebumps. (2) If you enjoy this manga as much as I did, you will probably find yourself rereading the moment you finish.

This is an earlier oneshot work by the critically-acclaimed mangaka Natsume Ono. Like most of her earlier material, her artwork can be a bit challenging to get used to but well-emphasizes the manga's atmosphere once the reader adjusts.

Not Simple is a non-linear story, so the events of the beginning do not take much significance until you reach the end. When you do get there though, don't be surprised if you start crying.

I recommend this work to people who enjoy melancholy stories, or stories about writers or family discord.
