This is a good book with some solid advice, but I found that as a mother who works full-time outside of the home that her system really doesn't work well for me. Yes, doing a little bit each day is a good idea, but the amount to accomplish each day was well beyond what I could do in my few hours at home in the evening. But I still got enough tips and guidelines to make reading this useful.
When I joined PBS I kept hearing about the FlyLady and her system. I was curious and purchased her book. I am an orginal SHE from 1977 and the Sidetracked Sisters; Pam Young and Peggy Jones. I prefer their system to the FlyLady's system. Their 3X5 index cards works/worked wonders for me. The binder "Control Book" of FlyLady is too encumbering, too bulky for me. The FlyLady is very ardent about her system, she keeps in touch with numerous e-mails each day; reminding you and encouraging you to keep trying and not to give up or get discouraged. All in all the book is good just not what I need.
Love the Flylady, Marla Cilley. Visit www.flylady.com to learn more about her methods. I have spent countless hours reading "how to" books, but her's is the definitive one. Take the time and do this for yourself.
I love Flylady, and this book puts all of her methods into one quick reference. She's realistic in her understanding of how easy it is to get sidetracked when you have great intentions of decluttering.
I love FlyLady! Lifesaver when it comes to keeping a clean and organized home. She does have a website, but to those people who don't have internet access or rather prefer to hold information in their hands, this is perfect! Would make a great gift to those in your life living in CHAOS!
Marla Cilley, aka, The Flylady guides you through setting up a system for cleaning your home and KEEPING it clean that works for YOU. This is not your typical How-to book. Ms. Cilley freely admits that there are no magic bullets, no "Do this and your home will sparkle." Just honest advice from a woman that has "been there and done that." And it all starts with something as simple as Shining Your Sink. =)
I really wanted to get organized and thought this book would help. It's a very funny book at least what I read of it. I just knew it was a pipe dream of mine to get organized so I gave up.
Wait it muc=st have done some good because after 4 years of having this book in my house I am giving it up!!
Is your house as messy, cluttered and confused as mine? Read and follow FLylady's methods in Sink Reflections, and you'll soon have some peace. FLylady gives methods for uncluttering, in just 15 minutes a day, and then keeping the place nice. She also gives help on uncluttering your life and bad thoughts, to Finally Love Youself (FLY!). This book explains the methods, and tells how Flylady, Marla Cilley, developed the methods. ANd yes, they really do work.
By following Flylady's methods somewhat, I have been able to change my house from a total unhappy mess to a home that my children invite friends to. Read the book - it's worth it!
