Sixty-Five Press Interviews With Robert G. Ingersoll
Sixty-Five Press Interviews With Robert G Ingersoll Author:Robert G. Ingersoll Many people still have not read Robert Ingersoll, or even heard of him. This is a sad state of affairs, and if American Atheists did not think so, it would not be involved in preserving, distributing and marketing his works. On the other hand, many people who are a little familiar with Ingersoll quickly come to the conclusion... that no more sub... more »lime and eloquent words on the subject could be uttered, so Ingersoll must have been right on everything he said and nothing more needs to be done. This is pointedly true of many scientists and especially the editors of the most prestigious scientific magazines in the country. Ingersoll, himself, appeared to have the delusion that orthodox christianity was going to die in his lifetime, or shortly thereafter, and that he needed to do little more than speak out against religion. This is painfully not true. While Atheists slept in this country, religion has effectively regained its power. --- excerpt from Foreword to 1983 edition« less
