Interesting book, it makes you guess the animal based on the picture of the skull, which was a challenge for me, sometimes. Also gives you lots of interesting little-known facts about animals, and also has hidden pictures of presidents.

This one is a little more challenging than the other Pallotta alphabet books, it makes you guess the animal based on the skull, there's one I couldn't guess. My first grade class liked this one. However, they threw in pictures of presidents that seemed to get the kids distracted.

Beautiful art plates mixed with a bit of oesteology, or the study of bones, and hinting riddles acompany each plate. These skulls will suprise and humor the reader as you travel through the alphabet. Suprisingly fasinating, not the least bit morbid or disgusting. I highly recomend this book which invites readers to learn a bit more about the skulls and info behind the animals they represent. This is a children's book, but so beautiful and amuzing that adults will admire and be entertained as well!

A really neat concept so I will buy this from the branch library sale shelf in expectation that one of the two wishers will reply when it is posted.
The illustrations carry the book but the text is close behind.
There is no bibliography but the author and artist (both very experienced) thank Jay Villemarette of Skulls Unlimited, International "for generously loaning us every skull in this book." Who knew there was such an enterprise? (His web address is provided).
PS The first in the wish list ignored the offer, letting it expire after 48 hours. The offer to the second is pending..... And it was taken--the Skull Alphabet book has a new home in Patchogue, N. York!
