A well written true crime of a fire that was thought to be arson. I had trouble putting this one down. It is written in a way to really hold your interest. This was such an awful tragedy and so many lives lost that were mostly children under the age of 11. Three of the nuns didn't even try to get their students to safety. They just waited like sitting ducks. So much could have been done to prevent deaths by the church officials, the fire inspector and the nuns themselves. It also could have been prevented if the arsonist's family, authorities would have done something. Such a great loss and the fire departments did everything humanly possible to save as many as possible. The fireman wer haunted and tormented by the fact they couldn't do more. There should be a plague made to honor these men as well as the many that died in the fire. This is a book that history and true crime lovers shouldn't miss! five stars!!

My friend's uncle and mother were in this fire, which is how I came about reading this book. The book is very detailed and I had a few sleepless nights while reading. I highly recommend!
