Sloppy Joe Pizza Burgers

Ingredients
  • 1 pound - bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 pound - ground beef
  • 1-15 ounce can - pizza sauce
  • 16 ounces - shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8-12 - hamburger buns
Directions

In large skillet, start browning Italian sausage until about halfway done, about 15 minutes.

Add ground beef to Italian sausage. Continue cooking until both are completely browned. Approximately 15 more minutes.

Drain grease.

Add can of pizza sauce. Stir thoroughly and simmer for 10 minutes.

Line large cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Place hamburger bun bottoms on top of foil. Top with meat mixture. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of meat mixture and place bun top on the sandwich. Cover with foil.

Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.

 


Notes

Serving size varies depending on how sloppy you want it. I usually make 8 pizza burgers from this recipe and end up needing a fork to eat it!

You can also add any ingredients you would have on a pizza to the meat mixture as you are browning the meat. (green peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, chopped pepperoni etc. )

Fast, easy recipe and tastes great. Kids love 'em!
