Wes Stafford was a missionary child who was threatend into submission and silence while being at a private school for missionary children. He would see his parents when they came to visit. They had no idea that the school officials were abusing the children. Under the constant threat of bieng harmed many children remained silent and feared for their lives. But finally one day Wes broke the code of silence. He told. He paid a dear price. And became an example as the school officials physically abused him and tortured him. He suffers the scars of those incredible days and nights of painful submission to leadership that was inhuman and stiffled the cries of many generations of children whose parents entrusted the care of their children to this school. They had no idea the atrocities that were occuring when they left the school to go back to the fields of winning souls for Christ. Wes, became the lone small voice for his buddies. He rose against the authority that harmed him and his little friends. He would then make it his mission in life to protect the innocent. He became an avocate for children who cannot speak for themselves. He currently is President and CEO of Compassion International. Amazing book, amazing man!!! If you've ever had a chance to hear him speak, you will feel that you have someone who understands the pain of silence in childhood. It will make you more apt to protect your little ones and really listen to what they say. Children are the future that we count on to become leaders and nuturers.
