HE present little book was issued to my own congregation and other personal friends a couple of months ago, and certainly I never contemplated a larger audience. I have gladly, however, met a widely-expressed wish for its publication. May it win for itself that fuller welcome of which others, rather than myself, deem it deserving. In so far as it is fitted to be useful I believe The Master will deign to own and bless it to the weal of souls. As the " Prefatory Note" prefixed tothe privately-printed and circulated edition affirms a principle and explains certain matters regarding both " Little Sins" and the others, which also, first private, may ultimately be published, I retain it here:— " It is my intention, if the Lord will, to print half-a-dozen or thereby of small books on the subjects announced at close of the present. (See fly-leaf.) "I do not know that I should have selected for the first in the proposed series the following, in preference to others of the many sermons preached in the ordinary course of my ministry; but having been repeatedly asked for it, I have at last consented to give it (in common with the remainder) the intentionally limited circulation of a private impression.
