Good writing and a compelling story, but I think you'll enjoy it more than I did if you start at the beginning of the series. Obviously you can follow the love story within this book as a stand alone, but to understand how all the pieces of the bigger puzzle fit together it looks like you want Murder in the Smokies (1428) and Smoky Mountain MIst (1432).

Typical romance suspense. Author makes sure you will want to read the next installment of the series.
