I figured it's published by Scholastic, and from the Goosebumps writer R L Stine, it should be a soft horror, yes? No. High school student Heather is abused by her uncle. She, in fact, hates him. Along comes a charismatic teenage stranger, Snowman. Adult situations include a death, setting someone on fire, and stalking. Very scary, very unexpected.
