Ordinarily I am not too fond of the modern fashion for series that seem to go on and on until everybody in the family and all the distant relatives and maybe even the guy who mucks out the stables get their own books; there are bound to be a few in the series that lack the needed oomph and are too dull or predictable. I found this one to be an exception, possibly because the heroine is older, settled in her life, and this change of status comes out of the blue for her. At her age will she be able to adjust and make a new life on a new level, or will she fall apart? Well, she's a Mary Balogh heroine, so she doesn't fall apart. I found this one held my attention.
