So far, in the previous volumes of this tale, Merlyn has been the son of a noble family, a well behaved and studious child, a great soldier, a leader of the colony, and Arthur's protector. This volume puts the focus on the changes Merlyn undergoes that cause him to become regarded a a sorcerer.
