Before jumping into a diet of soy, or even using soy frequently, read widely about it. The safety of soy is a controversial subject and there are many reasons to be very wary of claims that Asians are healthy because of their soy consumption, or that it will contribute health at all. The form of soy most widely used in Asia is soy sauce which is full of B vitamins, and therefore does contribute to health if used in moderation, which Asians do. They do not consume other forms of soy as widely as we are led to believe, and they do not eat bowls of soy beans. Their health may be due to lifestyle or genetics and probably has little, or more likely nothing to do with soy. Soy may block absorption of zinc, an important trace mineral that has many functions in human metabolism.
It is profitable for people and businesses to promote soy use among Americans; the US is a huge source of sales of manufactured products, but they aren't all safe or healthy. Be careful of this one, for the sake of your health.
